I thought maybe someone was trying to open the back doors at first, but the woman in the back was attacking the flight attendant, punching her in the head. What I saw was the flight attendant in the front suddenly start screaming “No, No, No! Stop!”, and running toward the back. The flight attendant told her to keep her seat belt fastened while we were still moving. As we are pulling up to the gate, a woman in the back row took off her seat belt and stood up. So a typical short uneventful flight from Sacramento to San Diego, early Sunday morning, on Southwest Airlines, turns violent. ![]() Law enforcement officials were requested to meet the flight upon arrival, and the passenger was taken into custody."Ī woman who shared a video of police officers escorting a woman from the aircraft said the flight attendant told a passenger to keep her seat belt fastened while the plane was still moving, with the passenger responding by punching her in the head. "The passenger repeatedly ignored standard inflight instructions and became verbally and physically abusive upon landing. "Our reports indicate that a passenger physically assaulted a flight attendant upon landing on Flight #700 from Sacramento to San Diego Sunday morning," the spokesperson stated. Southwest confirmed the recent incident in an emailed statement. As people return to the skies, we are asking for everyone's help in complying with flight attendant requests to help ensure a safe and fun atmosphere for all," she added in an emailed statement to CBS MoneyWatch. Flight attendants are first responders in the sky who are focused on safety. Kelly's comments come in the backdrop of Southwest Airlines canceling more than 2000 flights during the weekend, citing air traffic disruptions in Florida and bad weather."We are asking our carrier, the government and the flying public's help in ending this epidemic of aggression and assault. The CEO said that the airlines was making all efforts to get employees to get the vaccine shot and said that employees were eligible for religious and medical exemptions. This follows announcements from other major airlines like American Airlines, JetBlue Airways that they also plan to vaccinate all their employees by December 8 as per the Biden administration ruling. The airline has to vaccinate 56,000 employees by December 8 for it to function under the federal mandate. ![]() But the executive order from President Biden mandates that all federal employees and then all federal contractors, which covers all the major airlines, have to have a vaccine mandate in place by December 8, so we're working through that." ![]() Kelly said, "I've never been in favor of corporations imposing that kind of a mandate. However, the airlines is getting all its employees vaccinated, thus adhering to the federal rules announced by the Joe Biden Government. (LUV) Chief Executive Officer Gary Kelly, in an interview to CNBC on Tuesday, said that he was of the opinion that companies should not impose Covid vaccine mandates on their workers. ![]()
