Gold Standard Tank Sealer is an easy-to-use single application coating that cures into a tough fuel impervious seal. The grand finale is application of Gold Standard Tank Sealer, a superior single component, ready-to-use fuel tank sealer formulated for coating the inside of metal, aluminum and fiberglass tanks. It’s best to use a heat gun or blow dryer to ensure it is completely dry. After the rust has been removed the tank needs to be thoroughly dried. Rinse the tank out well with water and inspect to be sure all the rust is gone. Then pour out the RustBlast in a container, but don’t dispose of it yet in case the procedure needs to be repeated. Shake the tank thoroughly and let the RustBlast soak for about 45 minutes, rotating the tank around every ten minutes or so to etch all surfaces. When working with RustBlast, leave the agitators, which were used in the previous step, in the tank. The zinc will protect against flash rust in case the Tank Sealer can’t be applied right away. It will etch the surface and leave a zinc phosphate coating to ensure a strong bond with the Tank Sealer. RustBlast effectively dissolves rust, corrosion, metal oxides and tarnish from the inside of the tank. The next step is RustBlast, a powerful rust remover, zinc phosphate pre-primer and metal etch. Let it soak for 45 minutes then flush with water until suds stop coming out. Pour the bottle and water into the tank, place some metal objects like nuts and bolts in to act as agitators and shake the tank up. KBS Klean is designed to be diluted with water and a full-strength dilution is 1-part water (hot water works best) with 1-part KBS Klean. KBS Klean is a super concentrated, water-based, biodegradable formula that is crazy powerful and an excellent alternative to flammable solvents and hazardous chemicals. KBS Klean is a powerful cleaner that deeply penetrates and removes soil and varnish without leaving harmful residues or emitting noxious fumes. KBS Klean, RustBlast and Gold Standard Tank Sealer. The KBS Tank Sealer System is made up of three components. Whatever your tank holds will never touch the inside walls of your tank again. The KBS Tank Sealer System will stop rust and form a tough, fuel impervious coating while sealing small pinholes and weld seams. KBS Coatings offers the simple to use Tank Sealer System as an effective, high-quality and economical solution to clean, de-rust and seal your fuel tank. A good tank cleaning will help with this problem. The sludge settles to the bottom of a fuel tank and can clog filters when the vehicle is fueled. Diesel sludge is an algae-like substance that adheres to the tank surface or at the fuel water interface. Of note, if you have a diesel vehicle, diesel sludge contamination is another fuel tank issue to consider. And even a new tank that has not been sealed will start to rust causing the same problems. Replacement of the fuel tank can be very expensive especially in the case of some classic cars where the tanks are very pricey. If your fuel tank has rust there are two ways fix the problem: Replace the tank with a new one or take steps to clean the inside of the tank, remove the rust, and seal the inside with a fuel tank sealer. Rust in fuel tanks is more of an issue now than it was in the past since today's ethanol-gasoline blends are more corrosive than non-ethanol gasolines of the past. Particles can also clog fuel injectors and carburetors. Further, rust particles can collect in fuel filters restricting fuel flow meaning the vehicle can find itself getting enough fuel at idle, but then not enough when accelerating. Vehicles with in-tank fuel pumps can have issues as fine rust particles pass through the pump pickup strainer and into the pump causing damage. First, rust can create pin holes from which fuel can leak and it can also weaken seam welds creating a fire hazard. Rusting and varnish in a fuel tank can create problems.
